1. What has most inspired and shaped your approach to patient care?

It's enormously rewarding to see people through the entire journey, from diagnosis through treatment, and see them in follow-up when they're doing well. That provides tremendous satisfaction, both personally and professionally, to see people do well after we've been able to intervene in their lives in a positive way.

2. What's your favorite part of your job?

Endoscopy. I love both talking to patients at bedside and doing procedures, but procedures provide an ability to diagnose and immediately treat patients, and that satisfaction is incredibly rewarding.

3. What’s your biggest fear as a patient?

Fear of the unknown. It can be extremely scary to walk into what's a relatively sterile facility, with providers and nurses and people you don't know in an environment that you're not familiar with when you're probably at your worst. On the flip side, we try to alleviate and address those concerns by making the hospital as comfortable as possible to provide expert care.

4. What do you do for stress relief?

I like to play basketball, listen to music, watch movies, and play with my kids.

5. Dogs or cats?

I'm a dog person. I'm trying to get my wife on board.

6. Last movie you watched? Thumbs up or down?

Avatar 3. A big thumbs up.

7. Best advice you've ever heard?

To be curious but not judgmental, and to always keep an open mind and see things from the other person's perspective.
