Meet Gastroenterologist Rohit Sharda, MD
My name is Rohit Sharda and I am a gastroenterologist at UVA Health. We treat any condition involving organs ranging from the esophagus down to the colorectum. The most common conditions include GERD, which is heartburn, abdominal pain, bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease, and pancreas problems. I'm of Indian origin and my uncle, who is a physician in a small town in India, inspired me on one of our visits to pursue medicine. I saw the way he interacted with both patients and members of the community who held them in high regard because he would help them regardless of their means, and that truly inspired me to pursue medicine and help people. So new patients can expect a seamless clinical experience where they meet our staff and hopefully receive a diagnosis and a therapy plan right away in that initial visit. UVA Health provides patients the ability to see expert diagnosticians across multiple campuses with the ability to tap into expertise here locally as well as at our medical center in Charlottesville. We have the ability to see and treat and diagnose almost anything that rivals any other measure of medical center in the world while providing expert care and kind of a community touch here locally.
