Bio & Overview

Stephen H. Culp, MD, is a urologist who specializes in caring for patients with urologic cancers, including kidney, bladder and prostate cancer. An active researcher, Culp has a particular interest in the study of kidney cancer.

Culp grew up in South Carolina, the son of a nurse and a Methodist minister. When he was an undergrad at Emory University in Atlanta, his father was diagnosed and later succumbed to metastatic kidney cancer. It was this tragic loss that inspired Culp to make cancer research and treatment his life’s work.

He attended medical school at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, and completed his surgical and urologic residency training at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Culp then pursued a fellowship at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Dr Culp explained the procedure in detail; answered all my questions, an during the procedure frequently checked on me. I've worked with Todd before and he is an outstanding provider. Together they made a difficult procedure at least bearable.
