Pamela Mason, MD, serves as chief of cardiac electrophysiology at UVA Health.
As a fellowship-trained electrophysiologist, she has expertise in a wide range of heart rhythm disorders and treatments including:
- Complex pacemaker and defibrillator management
- Lead extraction
- Ablation
- Left atrial appendage occlusion
Dr. Mason was born and raised in Lima, Ohio. Her parents were both teachers and she has a sister who is a history professor.
Dr. Mason says, “My father had atrial fibrillation his entire adult life, and I have many memories of him being admitted to the hospital for cardioversions and medication therapy. This influenced my decision to go into medicine and then electrophysiology.”
She attended Miami University for her undergraduate degree and went to medical school at the University of Cincinnati. She then moved to Charlottesville and trained in internal medicine, cardiology, and cardiac electrophysiology at UVA. She joined the UVA Health faculty in 2007.
Dr. Mason is married to Dr. Rohit Malhotra, who is also a cardiologist at UVA Health. They have two sons, who love music and sports, and a Corgi. Life is always joyful and loud.
