Matthew Canning, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with a wide range of experience caring for children and adults, including those with autism spectrum disorder and emotional and behavioral disorders.
His clinical specialties include depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships problems, gender health, and loss and grief.
“Patient-centered care treats the whole person, recognizing the mind-body connection and how emotions and physical health are interwoven,” he says. “I work collaboratively with patients to improve mood and wellbeing, navigate life stressors, and develop healthy relationships.”
Canning earned his master of social work degree from West Virginia University. He previously worked at an inpatient psychiatric hospital, a residential treatment facility for children and adolescents, and an autism and developmental disorders clinic, as well as in an integrated role in a primary care internal medicine clinic.
