Bio & Overview
Katherine Forkin, MD, is a board-certified anesthesiologist whose clinical practice focuses on caring for patients requiring general surgery and liver transplantation. Her research interests include patient blood management, liver transplantation, medical education, bias in medicine and quality improvement. Forkin serves as the Division Chief of Liver Transplant Anesthesia.
Born and raised in Northern Virginia, Forkin completed her undergraduate degree in neuroscience and psychology at UVA. She attended medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine before returning to Charlottesville to complete her anesthesiology training, acting as chief resident from 2014 to 2015. Prior to joining the faculty full time in 2016, Forkin also completed a fellowship in medical education as well as specialty training in liver transplantation at UVA.
In her free time, Forkin enjoys spending time with her husband, three children and dog.
