Highlights
Dr. Bhiken Naik video profile
My name is Bhiken Naik. I'm an anesthesiologist and Intensive Care Specialist at the University of Virginia. My major area of clinical work involves looking after patients who undergo major spine surgery and patients who undergo brain surgery. We have a very large clinical practice with multiple orthopedic and neurosurgeons doing spine procedures, and I think we provide excellent care for these patients, both during the operating room, and after surgery in the Intensive Care Unit. The patients who present to UVA for neurologically related disease can expect to see physicians and health care providers who are passionate about the work that we do. We provide excellent care, and more importantly, we provide excellent care through the continuum of the care from both pre-surgical intraoperative and post-operatively. I have that unique opportunity to both look after patients in the operating room, and not uncommonly, to manage them in the Intensive Care Unit. And so I have this unique opportunity to see them in the operating room, and more importantly, to see them after surgery and to establish a relationship with both their family and friends and sort of guide them through, occasionally fairly uncomplicated surgical procedures, and sometimes more difficult recovery periods. We have proven to be one of the top hospitals in the country and I think that is really the prime motivation to come to University of Virginia to receive care.
