Anju Bhardwaj, MD

Anju Bhardwaj, MD, is an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist specializing in the care of patients with severe and complex heart disease, including those who may need heart transplantation or mechanical circulatory support.

She serves as director of mechanical circulatory support, with expertise in cardiogenic shock and the care of critically ill cardiovascular patients.  Her experience also includes building multidisciplinary clinical programs for patients with complex cardiac conditions.

Dr. Bhardwaj grew up in India in a close-knit family where education, public service, and the pursuit of excellence were deeply valued. She later moved to the United States and has carried those values into a career dedicated to caring for patients with complex cardiovascular disease.

She completed her cardiology fellowship at Case Western Reserve University, including additional electrophysiology training focused on cardiac devices, followed by advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology training at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center and the Texas Heart Institute.

“I believe the best patient care begins with listening and is built on trust,” Dr. Bhardwaj says. “I value meaningful relationships with my patients and approach their care with kindness, empathy, and honesty. I believe in being direct and transparent, especially when decisions are difficult. My goal is for patients and their families to understand their options, feel supported, and know that I will continue to advocate for them through even the most challenging circumstances.”
