Bio & Overview

Aaron Freilich, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in upper extremity trauma care, wrist arthroscopy, microvascular treatment of nonunions, and complex wrist and elbow reconstruction. His research interests include injury prevention, wrist motion, and kinematics.

“I try to allow patients the time that they deserve in order to figure out exactly what the problem is and how best to approach it,” he says. “I frequently tell people that just because the X-ray or MRI shows something, doesn't necessarily mean that is the actual problem. Sometimes they will need surgery, but sometimes the opposite is true.”

Dr. Freilich was born in Kentucky and grew up in southern California and Michigan. He studied cell biology and economics at the University of Michigan. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia, where he also completed his orthopedic surgery residency. He completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Wake Forest University.

This was not my regular doctor. I would recommend the orthopedic clinic as a whole.

My experience with Dr Freilich was excellent, he was so accommodating. My surgery went very well and I felt very comfortable, I was in great hands! He even removed two rings that were stuck on my swollen hand and didn't have to cut them off..so happy about that.

I was basically told to take advil and buy an over the counter brace. I had to ask for a PT referral to manage the decades long symptoms and pain. I left feeling very disappointed and with little/no hope. The doctor was courteous, and explained why he doesn't plan to treat further.
