Bio & Overview
Xiaoya Mullis, AG-ACNP, is an acute care nurse practitioner who specializes in caring for patients through abdominal transplantation. In addition to monitoring for complications, she also provides patient consults, education, and advocacy.
With her patients, Ms. Mullis takes a holistic approach. By involving an interdisciplinary team, she addresses patients’ physical, mental, and overall well-being. She cares deeply about patient safety and keeps a sharp lookout for the details that matter.
Ms. Mullis has been involved in extensive research on enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols, and reviews of modifiable risk factors in immediate post-operative transplant patients.
Ms. Mullis was born and raised in China, spent 3 years in the United Kingdom, and then came to the United States. With a master’s in business administration, she was a successful international trader who excelled in organization and leadership. While she excelled, she wanted to find a career path that allowed her to help others. She made the career change to nursing, and then pursued an advanced nursing degree.
After working in the General Rehabilitation and Brain Injury Unit, Ms. Mullis moved on to caring for progressive care patients, and then became a transplant nurse. Soon, she was promoted to the position of transplant clinical coordinator.
