Bio & Overview
Walker Julliard, MD, is a thoracic surgeon who treats lung and esophageal cancers, chest wall disorders, diaphragmatic and hiatal hernias, and acid reflex disease. His specialties include minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery, complex airway reconstruction, and lung transplantation.
His research interests include surgical education and the improvement of patient outcomes for thoracic cancers and lung transplants.
“I try to meet patients where they are, whether that’s answering tough questions, walking through treatment options, or just listening,” he says. “Surgery can be intimidating, so I make it a priority to explain things clearly and honestly. I want patients to feel like they’re truly cared for.”
Dr. Julliard grew up in Anchorage, AK, where he was surrounded by mountains, wildlife, and a strong sense of community.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester in New York and completed his general surgery residency and a postdoctoral research fellowship in transplant immunology at the University of Wisconsin. He then completed a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Virgina.
