Bio & Overview
Virginia Gallagher, PhD, is a neuropsychologist who treats people with conditions affecting the brain and behavior, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, brain injury, stroke, movement disorders, brain tumors, and sleep disorders. She also conducts research and is the author of peer-reviewed articles on these conditions.
“I believe the concerns of patients and their caregivers should be the focus during a neuropsychological evaluation,” she says. “My main goal is to empower them with the information they need to optimize their current function and plan for the future.”
Gallagher was born in Vermont and raised in Northern Virginia. She earned her undergraduate degree from UVA and her PhD from Northwestern University. She completed a fellowship in neuropsychology at UVA, where she worked in the Memory and Aging Care Clinic and conducted research as a Virginia Alzheimer’s Disease Scholar.
