Steven M Wiseman, AG-ACNP

Steven Wiseman is a board-certified nurse practitioner who cares for patients with neurological and spinal injuries. He has a special interest in trauma care and critical care medicine. 

Wiseman grew up in Northern Virginia and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Randolph Macon College. His love of the outdoors then led him to Colorado, where he worked as an outdoor guide and instructor. His growing interest in wilderness medicine led him to seek more advanced medical training. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Metropolitan State University of Denver. He then spent many years as a critical care nurse in Colorado and Roanoke before pursuing a master’s degree from University of Alabama-Birmingham.

In addition to his work at UVA, Wiseman is a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve and he frequently teaches courses, including fundamental critical care support, advanced cardiovascular life support and wilderness medicine courses for NOLS Wilderness Medicine. Wiseman joined the UVA neurology staff in 2018.

In his free time, Wiseman enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, hiking, backpacking and soccer.
