Bio & Overview
Dr. Lehtinen joined the UVA faculty in 2015 and practices general internal medicine. He has a special interest in medical education, including trainee well-being and mentorship. He serves as a mentor for clinical performance development and will become a clinical development coach for the School of Medicine starting in 2018. In addition, he serves as a mentor for the Generalist Scholars Program.
Dr. Lehtinen was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada and grew up moving around, mostly in the Carolinas in addition to living in France on two occasions. He attended Furman University, before completing medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. Following medical school, he moved to Charlottesville to complete residency training in internal medicine at UVA.
He and his wife share a common interest in food and cooking, which leads them to try new restaurants in Charlottesville and to cook new recipes in their time outside of work. In addition, Dr. Lehtinen enjoys traveling and visiting with family and friends, and is an automotive enthusiast.
