Bio & Overview
Matthew Snyder, MD, is a pediatric geneticist who grew up in Lewistown, PA. His interest and desire to help families is deeply rooted in his own journey as a patient born with a rare immunodeficiency called Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome. He received a bone marrow transplant at age three, and since then wanted to become a doctor to give back to the field that gave him the opportunity to thrive.
Dr. Snyder attended UVA, where he competed as a college wrestler. He completed medical school at George Washington University in the nation’s capital. He then moved to Houston for residency and fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital where his experience exceeded all expectations and equipped him to practice pediatric genetics.
Dr. Snyder attributes his values to family and mentors at UVA who sacrificed much of their own time and resources for his success and taught him the values of honest, hard work. He is thrilled to move back to Charlottesville with his family. In addition to spending time with friends and family, he also enjoys exploring the outdoors, keeping up with his toddler, being involved in his church, and cheering on UVA Sports, especially wrestling.
