Mary Ellen graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2021 with her PMHNP degree. She decided to become an NP because she “wanted the chance to learn new skills and challenge myself, provide a higher level of care to a uniquely vulnerable patient population. And possibly have an opportunity to inform healthcare policy.”
Mary Ellen was born in Richmond, Virginia. She was raised in Richmond and in Greensboro, North Carolina. She shares, “I was a passionate reader as a child, to the point of often forgoing recess in order to stay in the classroom to read a book. Science and medicine fascinated me from an early age.
