Bio & Overview
Lauren Ivey, MD, is a pulmonary, critical care, and sleep physician. She treats sleep disorders as well as chronic respiratory failure requiring advanced respiratory support, including COPD, hypoventilation syndromes, and neuromuscular disease.
Her research focuses on improving care for patients using non-invasive breathing equipment.
“I prioritize patient-centered care and clear communication, especially with complex diagnoses,” she says. “I try to treat every patient the way I'd want a family member treated in the same situation.”
Dr. Ivey grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, and attended Davidson College in North Carolina. She received her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville.
She completed her internal medicine residency at Wake Forest University, where she completed a pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship. She also completed a sleep medicine fellowship at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
