Jeffrey W Craig, MD, PhD
Anatomic Pathology
Bio & Overview
Jeffrey Craig, MD, PhD, is a board-certified hematopathologist at UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center. That means he looks at patient samples like blood and biopsies to find out whether someone has a blood cancer like leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. He also uses lab tests to find important details about a patient’s cancer. This critical information helps the rest of the patient’s cancer care team tailor treatments specifically to the patient and the type of cancer they have.
Growing up in the suburbs of southeast Pennsylvania, Craig’s favorite subjects in school were science and math. He decided to become a doctor because he wanted “a career with greater potential to help people directly.” He earned his MD and PhD degrees from the Weill Cornell/Rockefeller/Sloan-Kettering Tri-Institutional program in New York City. He completed residency training in pathology and fellowship training in hematopathology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
