Bio & Overview

Joseph Taylor, MSN/DNP, CRNA, is a certified registered nurse anesthetist.

“I treat my patients with the same care, respect, and courtesy I would want for myself or my family members,” he says. “There is no better feeling than when I can successfully get someone through a very stressful or painful procedure. It is so satisfying when they wake up relieved and their pain is well controlled.”

Taylor grew up in South Carolina. He joined the U.S. Army shortly after 9/11 and continued to work for the military as a civilian after completing his service. He spent over 44 months deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.

He began his nursing career in the surgical trauma burn intensive care unit at UVA Health. While working as a critical care nurse, he earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from UVA. He then earned a doctor of nursing practice in nurse anesthesia from Western Carolina University in Asheville, where he had an amazing experience delivering anesthetic care to underserved and rural areas of western North Carolina.

Taylor is a family man who loves spending time with the loves of his life — his wife, daughter, and dog.
