Hyunsun D Ko, FNP

HyunSun D. Ko, FNP-C, APRN-BC, is a family nurse practitioner specializing in hospital medicine with more than 25 years of clinical experience. She focuses on antibiotic stewardship, sepsis management, and evidence-based care for complex internal medicine conditions.

Born in South Korea and raised in the U.S. from age 16, Ko earned her nurse practitioner degree from the University of Virginia, where she is now a doctor of nursing practice candidate.

Her career spans both inpatient and outpatient settings, including infectious disease, allergy, asthma, and immunology. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, she spent eight years as a registered nurse in high-acuity units, such as cardiac surgery and respiratory intensive care. This experience sharpened her critical thinking and deepened her commitment to patient-centered care.

Ko believes in treating patients with honesty and compassion. “I approach my patients the same way I would want to be treated if I were in their place,” she says.
