Alden Adkins, MD, is a rheumatologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating inflammatory and autoimmune disorders. His areas of expertise include rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, myositis, vasculitis, and gout.
“I work closely with patients so I can understand their goals, values, and priorities and create a treatment plan that fits their needs,” he says.
Dr. Adkins was born in south central Virginia and has lived in the state for most of his life. He earned his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary and attended medical school at the University of Virginia.
After completing his residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, he returned to UVA Health for his fellowship training.
He is excited to remain in Virginia, where he can enjoy hiking and the area’s natural beauty.
