Bio & Overview

Daniel Russo, MD, is a head and neck surgeon whose specialties include treatment for oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma, oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma, endocrine surgery, and parotid surgery.

“A strong patient-doctor relationship begins by establishing a connection outside of the disease state,” he says. “I like to get to know my patients better. I also take the time to educate them on treatment plans from beginning to end so they can understand the entirety of their care.”

He grew up in western Maryland as one of four boys. Traveling to club lacrosse games, fishing on the Chesapeake, watching professional football, and backyard competitive games of front yard basketball were the norm. He also developed a love of classical music, downhill skiing, and hospital volunteering at the community hospital where he lived. He decided to enter the medical profession after a summer helping care for the family dog who was suffering from severe diabetes. “I felt fulfilled administering medication to make him feel better and learned then that my passion was in the medical field,” he says.

Dr. Russo received his medical degree from the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine in Long Island, New York. He completed an otolaryngology residency program at the University of Connecticut, where he served as chief resident.
