Highlights
Dr. Barrett Zlotoff Video Profile
My name is Barrett Zlotoff I'm a pediatric dermatologist at the University of Virginia. I see mostly children with dermatologic issues skin problems of all kinds so we see common skin diseases like eczema, psoriasis, worts, molluscum but we also see some of the more interesting and rare diseases like ichthyosis. We see mastocytosis we see genetic diseases that are related to the skin. The great part about dermatology is that I get to look, do a physical exam, make a diagnosis and then help a patient fix the problem. My most satisfying experiences with pediatric dermatology has been working with vascular anomaly patients they are a group of patients that have birthmarks that are made out of blood vessels or other vascular structures. One of the great things about UVA is being here and being able to work with residents students so every day I come in I'm on my toes we're learning new stuff we're reading the latest journals and that's what gets me up I love my job I love coming to work and that's unusual. My style is really a process of learning to understand patients disease but also more importantly getting to know a family.
