Bio & Overview
Sarju Panchal, MD, PharmD, is a gastroenterologist who specializes in advanced endoscopy. He cares for patients with conditions affecting the gastrointestinal tract — including the esophagus, stomach, and small and large intestines — as well as the pancreas and bile ducts.
Dr. Panchal routinely performs endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). He uses these advanced procedures to diagnose and treat pancreatic and biliary conditions, including masses, cysts, strictures, and other complex disorders.
He also provides endoscopic treatment for complex polyps and early cancers of the gastrointestinal tract, radiofrequency ablation for precancerous and early cancerous conditions of the esophagus, and endoscopic stent placement for a variety of gastrointestinal conditions.
“My approach is to empower patients with a clear understanding of their condition and treatment options so they can be active, informed participants in decisions about their health,” he says. “I strive to care for every patient with the same compassion, honesty, and attention I would want for a member of my own family.”
Dr. Panchal was born in India and moved to the United States with his family at age 10. He grew up in the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri.
He earned his doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis and his medical degree from the University of Missouri. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by fellowships in gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy.
Outside of work, Dr. Panchal enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children. Together, they enjoy being outdoors, traveling, and exploring new activities.
