Highlights
Meet Pediatrician Sarah Cohen Solomon, MD
Hi, I'm Dr. Sarah Cohen Solomon. I'm a pediatrician here at UVA Health. I see patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and hypermobility disorders here at our specialty clinic. So this specialty is very important to me because I myself have the hypermobile type of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and I'm very vocal about it, because unfortunately, this condition has been under-recognized and under-treated for a very long time. I'm very privileged to have had the support and medical care that I did that enabled me to get to this point in my life and my career. As a result, it's also very important that I give back to that community and help to use my lived experience to make this journey easier for others. The first thing I want new patients to know is that they can relax when they see me. Our initial appointments are long so that I can get a full detailed history. I do a thorough exam and I want to know all about you. I want to know what brought you in. I want to know what the journey has been like because even the smallest detail can help us get to the bottom of the condition and then make an enormous difference in how we create a treatment plan together. Any patient with a rare or complex condition knows that it's important to go somewhere where they really understand not just the condition but all the complexities involved in it, and here at UVA, we are in the process of building something unique and spectacular. So any patient who comes to us, we are excited to have you. You’re going to be taken care of by a team of experts and we're going to be also at the cutting edge of research and development of management and treatment and we can't wait to bring it to you.
