Sara G Stephens, PSYD

Sara Groff Stephens, PhD, LCSW, (pronouns: she/her) is the Director of the Eating Disorder Interdisciplinary Team and provides outpatient behavioral health treatment at UVA Children’s Teen and Young Adult Health Center. She specializes in working with adolescents and young adults with eating disorders and accompanying mental health disorders.

Originally from Jacksonville, FL, Dr. Stephens received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Florida and her masters and doctorate in social work from Florida State University. She completed her specialized training in eating disorders at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in their Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Program for Eating Disorders.

Dr. Stephens joined the UVA Adolescent Medicine faculty in 2018. In her free time, Dr. Stephens enjoys the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with family.
