Highlights
Meet Emergency Medicine Physician Saad Amin, MD
My name is Saad Amin. I'm the Medical Director and Chairman of the Emergency Department at UVA Health in Culpeper. We see patients that are children all the way to patients that are fully grown adults and we’re prepared to take care of everything from coughs and colds to heart attacks and strokes. I became interested in medicine mainly because of my family. I had a lot of exposure to health care at a young age. My younger sister was in and out of the hospital a lot and it was the compassion that the physicians and the nursing staff showed us while my sister was in the hospital that really spoke to me. One of the most important things about emergency medicine is teamwork and communication. The patients will notice that when they come to the emergency department they have fairly quick access to a physician, but it's not just the physician that's doing all the work. There's an entire team that's supporting the physician to make sure that the patient gets cared for appropriately. A patient should come to UVA Health for their care because we're a unified system. If you come to one part of the UVA Health system and we can't fix you or help you right there, we have all the resources to get you to the right care that you need and it's a very simple process for us physicians to refer patients to other physicians within the system.
