Rachel Kon, MD, is an internal medicine physician at a teaching primary care practice where patients are seen by a team of general medicine residents and faculty members. She is a board-certified attending doctor who supervises a fully licensed doctor (resident) training to become certified in adult internal medicine.
Dr. Kon provides acute and ongoing care for patients who often have one or more complex medical conditions, such as congestive heart failure, diabetes, COPD, as well as mental health conditions.
Her practice includes performing office procedures, such as joint injections, arthrocentesis, incision and drainage, and Pap smears.
Her research efforts focus on medical education, primarily curriculum development, assessment, and promoting the ideal learning environment for doctors in training. Dr. Kon joined the faculty at UVA in 2015. She is an associate professor and director of the Patient Student Partnership. Through this UVA School of Medicine program, patients across the health system help educate the next generation of physicians.
Dr. Kon completed her undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College and her medical degree at University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. Her post-graduate training included an internal medicine residency at Georgetown University Hospital from 2007-2010 and serving as chief resident in 2010-2011.
