Bio & Overview
Michael Woodall, MD, wanted to be a space cowboy. “But it turns out the food in space is really gross,” he adds. So, he decided to become a pediatrician. At his Alabama high school, Dr. Woodall focused his attention on answering critical questions, like how many licks it gets to the center of a Tootsie Pop.
After medical school, Dr. Woodall completed his pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. He went on to do a year as chief resident in Flint, Michigan, where he focused on community outreach and child advocacy.
He describes his approach as being family-centered, with the patient as the primary focus. One of his main goals is to make sure the patient understands what’s happening. While known for a silly sense of humor and bad puns, Dr. Woodall hopes that makes his patients feel more comfortable. But he wants their parents to know that there’s nothing he takes more seriously than his patients’ health.
