Bio & Overview
Matthew Lemieux, MSN, PNP, is a pediatric nurse practitioner. He provides primary care to children and has a special interest in urgent and emergency care.
"Care is a team approach between patient, family, and provider," Matthew says. "I want to know the concerns and goals of the patient and family, no matter how minor, so I can help them achieve what they want with my decisions. No visit or question is a waste of my time."
Matthew earned a history degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He later attended University of Virginia, where he earned a master of science in nursing and a postgraduate certification to become a pediatric nurse practitioner.
Prior to joining UVA Health in 2017, he spent two years at the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU Children's Emergency Department.
A native of Colorado, Matthew briefly attended college before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served in Afghanistan and was honorably discharged in 2008.
Married with three children, Matthew is an active walker and a big fan of Mexican food.

Every interaction was great
He seemed flustered and not his normal chipper self I assume because they were behind he did apologize for the delay and didn't rush us through - he always takes the time to listen and cares about his patients.
Matt is an excellent provider. We trust him fully with our daughter's complex medical needs.
Nurse practitioner Matt has seen my daughter twice and she remembered him instantly. He talks to her and lets her answer questions to make sure she is involved her care.
Not only was he helpful in determining the cause, he was very knowledgeable about my daughter ongoing medical issue chiari w syrinx and eased my anxieties about possible neurological connections.
Matt is always patience with the kids and eases their anxiety
