Matthew Allen, MD, is a primary care doctor at UVA Health University Physicians Orange. He is also lead clinician for the UVA Health Community Outreach Clinic at The Haven, which helps people who are homeless.
Dr. Allen enjoys helping people manage chronic health conditions. He works to treat the whole person, not just their illness. “I listen so I can get to know each patient’s story,” he says.
Dr. Allen was born and grew up in Springfield in Northern Virginia. He majored in psychology at UVA. He volunteered for community health programs in Fiji through the Peace Corps for 2 years. Dr. Allen attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh and completed residency training in internal medicine at UVA Health.
