Meg G Keeley, MD

Meg G. Keeley, MD, is a pediatrician, an accomplished researcher and scholar focused on shaping the future of medical education. A graduate of UVA School of Medicine, she now holds multiple leadership positions there, including Senior Associate Dean for Education, professor of pediatrics, the Harrison Distinguished Professor of Medical Education.

Keeley is the past chair of the Learning Communities Institute, a national multidisciplinary organization of medical school faculty, administrators, and students. She also is a member of the United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 2 Clinical Skills Exam Committee of the National Board of Medical Examiners and an active member of the Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics. 

Her research is focused on several areas of medical education, including clinical skills, professional identity formation, student advising, educational handovers, biomedical engineering education, and learning communities.  She has been honored with teaching awards and is a member of the Academy of Distinguished Educators. 

In addition to residency training at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, Keeley attended the Harvard Macy Institute and completed The Executive Program at the Darden School of Business. Her clinical interests include a variety of conditions affecting children, including asthma, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, pneumonia, encopresis, and more. Keeley has previously served as a medical director and division head of general pediatrics at UVA Health.
