Highlights
Meet Family Medicine Physician Kearn Ghuman, DO
Hi, my name is Dr. Kearn Ghuman. I am a board-certified family physician with UVA Health. I see patients of all ages, all the way from newborns to the geriatric population, so pretty much everybody. I chose to go into family medicine because I like to really connect with my patients and have more than just a one-time relationship. I like to see them throughout the course of their life and see them grow. That can start in their pediatric life, into their adult life, into their geriatric life, and take care of them throughout all phases of their lives. An experience that really shaped my career was when I was in residency, I saw an elderly woman in my first year of training, and we really built a strong relationship. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with cancer in my second year of residency and training. It was really unfortunate to see her go through that, but it really made me grow as a physician and understand what being a family physician truly is. I'm very passionate about preventative care because that is really the core of family medicine and keeping patients healthy throughout the course of their lifetimes and keeping them outside of the hospital. UVA Health is very unique, and a patient should come to UVA Health because, not only do we work on the community health side, but we also have an academic portion to UVA Health. We have access to the greatest trials and the greatest specialists in Charlottesville, who I can send a message to at any point and have great communication with. As a whole, I think we're just a great healthcare system.
