A certified family nurse practitioner, James Mapp, FNP-C, specializes in caring for cardiology patients.
James, who grew up in Northern Virginia and also lived in Florida for 15 years, worked for 10 years as a firefighter. He then worked more than 8 years in emergency nursing before earning his master of nursing degree and family nurse practitioner certification.
“The more I learned about medicine, the more interested I became in pursuing a career in the field,” James says. “I try to stress patient education. I want to help them understand the treatment and why each piece is important.”
Outside of work, James enjoys traveling with his family, spending time with his three sons and pets. He also is an avid woodworker.
