Dr. Ramirez Lazo was raised in rural El Salvador as the youngest of seven children. He learned early the value of hard work, faith, family, and community.
“Limited access to healthcare in my hometown inspired me to pursue medicine and dedicate my career to improving the health of others,” he says. “My journey to becoming a family physician has been shaped by perseverance, gratitude, and the support of countless mentors, family members, and patients.”
Dr. Ramirez Lazo earned his medical degree at Universidad Evangelica de El Salvador and completed his family medicine residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Odessa, TX, where he was chief resident his final year. He completed a clinical rotation in Paraguay and participated in medical mission trips to underserved communities in El Salvador and Honduras. He has worked in emergency, hospital, and critical care settings.
