Bio & Overview

Haven Abernathy, PA-C, is a physician assistant whose clinical interests include integrative medicine and functional nutrition. She is particularly interested in the relationship between diet and neuroinflammation and hopes to contribute to research on the connection between Alzheimer’s disease and Down syndrome.

Haven is passionate about understanding her patients' whole health picture and strives to create a clinical environment where they feel heard, respected, and supported in their care. She also provides medical care in Spanish and is committed to improving access and communication for Spanish-speaking patients.

She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in biology and French language and literature at the University of Virginia. She received her master of science in physician assistant studies from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland.

Before PA school, Haven learned Spanish and volunteered as a medical interpreter at a charitable clinic in Richmond. She also has a heart for medical mission work and hopes to serve communities both locally and abroad through compassionate, service-oriented care.

Outside of work, Haven enjoys teaching ballet, running, and developing nutritious recipes.
