Eleanor B. Seid, RN, MSN, AG-ACNP, is part of a team of providers who focus on the medical treatment of patients with brain and spine tumors (neuro-oncology). She has been at UVA since graduating from nursing school in 2009.
Eleanor was born and raised outside of Baltimore, Maryland. She attended UVA and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing before starting work as a nurse in the UVA Post Anesthesia Care Unit. She remained there until deciding to go back to school at UVA to earn her Master of Science in Nursing for her nurse practitioner degree. She worked as an NP on the vascular surgery floor before transitioning to the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center in neuro-oncology.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, being outside walking their dog, and traveling to see friends and family.

Meet Nurse Practitioner Eleanor Seid, RN, MSN, AG-ACNP
My name is Eleanor Seid, and I work as a nurse practitioner in the neuro-oncology division at the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center at UVA. I work in a multidisciplinary team to care for patients with brain and spine tumors. After graduating from UVA's nursing school, I started working in the recovery room at UVA as a nurse. And then decided that I wanted to pursue education further, and went to UVA again for my nurse practitioner degree. Helping people through some of the most vulnerable times of their lives, sort of is what drew me to nursing. I think it's a privilege to be able to help patients and their families. I chose oncology because I have had a personal experience with a family member going through cancer. And so as a family member, I feel like I was able to see that side of the patient care setting. I think that experience has really only helped me become a better nurse practitioner in oncology to help serve our patients. I am passionate about patient-centered care. I believe at UVA we are treating the disease, but we are also treating the patient in a holistic way. And I think that our team does a great job of managing the patient and helping them navigate through this time.
