Bio & Overview

Eric M. Davis, MD, received his medical degree from University of Virginia. He completed a residency in internal medicine and was chief resident at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He then pursued a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at the University of Pittsburgh, followed by a final year of training in the sleep fellowship program at University of Pennsylvania.

Davis returned to UVA in 2014 as an assistant professor of medicine. Today, he is a pulmonary and critical care physician specializing in caring for patients with sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, insomnia and parasomnias. Additionally, he is involved in the co-management of patients with neuromuscular weakness as it pertains to its effect on sleep and breathing.

From a research perspective, Davis is interested in the impact sleep apnea has on memory impairment and he is partnering with colleagues in neurology and sleep medicine in a clinical research study investigating this relationship.

It took a long time to actually get the appointment from when my cardiologist referred me, but the service was great. Well worth the wait.

Dr. Davis is easily the best doctor I have ever had. I have been struggling with a difficult sleep disorder for many years, and it has seriously affected my daily life. Dr. Davis has always been a kind, knowledgeable, and eminently humane voice of support, and I am deeply grateful for the care he has provided over the years.

Dr Davis is very easy to work with. I got lost in the Covid era and had not seen him for 8 years, but he was the same Dr Davis I remember, very happy with the results of using my Cpap daily.
