Clinical Trials | A Global, Multicenter, Randomized, Open-label, Phase 3 Study of Sacituzumab Govitecan Versus Standard of Care (SOC) in Participants With Previously Treated Extensive Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer (ES-SCLC)
A Global, Multicenter, Randomized, Open-label, Phase 3 Study of Sacituzumab Govitecan Versus Standard of Care (SOC) in Participants With Previously Treated Extensive Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer (ES-SCLC)
The University of Virginia Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks participants ages 18 and over with extensive stage, or metastatic, small cell lung cancer (SCLC) that have had disease progression after 1 prior line of platinum-containing chemotherapy (defined as at least 2 cycles of treatment). The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of the experimental drug sacituzumab govitecan (SG) to the effects of standard of care treatment with chemotherapy, either topotecan or lurbinectedin, when given to people with SCLC. In this study, you will have 1 out of 2 chances to receive SG, and 1 out of 2 chances to receive standard of care treatment with another chemotherapy. If you are assigned to SG, it will be supplied by the study sponsor. If you are assigned to standard of care treatment (topotecan or lurbinectedin), it may be supplied by the study sponsor or supplied by the study site depending on what country you live in. The common risks associated with the study drug SG are allergic reactions, increased risk of infections, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. There are additional risks listed in the consent form, and unforeseen risks are possible. You may or may not benefit because of your participation in this study. However, this study may also help doctors learn things that can help other people in the future. After you stop receiving study drug, you will be in the follow up part of the study. During follow up, the study staff will continue to check on your health for about 30 days after your last dose, then every 3 months after that or more frequently until the end of the study.
