Auricular Vagal Neuromodulation Therapy (AVNT) for the Alleviation of Depression and Anxiety in Substance Use Disorder
The University of Virginia’s Center for Neuromodulation Research is seeking adults ages 18-60 with substance use disorder who are currently receiving treatment for a research study. The purpose of this study is to learn whether a non-invasive ear device may help improve mood, anxiety, sleep, and cravings in people with substance use disorder.
Study participation lasts about 30 days and includes 5 in-person study visits. Participants will be asked to use a study device at home for about 60 minutes each day, complete questionnaires about mood, anxiety, sleep, and substance use, participate in brief computer-based activities, and complete short daily surveys using a smartphone application.
Study-related visits, assessments, and use of the study device are provided at no cost. Participation is voluntary.
