SPRING: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study of LHP588 in Subjects with P. gingivalis-Positive Alzheimer’s Disease

The Adult Neurology department seeks adults ages 55-80 with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease for a research study. The purpose of the study is to test the safety and effectiveness of an investigational medicine for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease with a positive result for P. gingivalis bacteria, most commonly associated with gum disease. Participants must have a study partner available to attend with them who knows them well. Study includes taking an experimental medicine/placebo, blood draws, cognitive testing, electrocardiograms, and a brain MRI or CT of the head at screening and the end of the study. This study involves at least 10 visits over 48 weeks, each visit lasting 1-5 hours. Additional visits to your local labcorp for blood draws are required every 2-4 weeks throughout the study.
